he pulled the sheets off from the stars and made the earth spin toward the sun

and when the fire hit the clouds it took ten years off his life

when the sheriff found out where he was

he sent 10 men down to find cause they knew we’d find out the truth unless they

let that man down

hands were shaking at his side when he pulled out the gun and said goodbye

the shots flew back and forth and the crowd covered their eyes

and when the noise was over dirt flew by with dust and spite

he laid on his back red and full of life

and they hung the flag at half mast today

while the room filled full and alive

he laid down low with a smile on his face

while the stars sing songs and collide in his eyes
