Will it be the Eagle, or the Serpent?

Are you getting any older, though you’re closer to the grave

Each day sit like a stranger, waiting in dark places patiently

Waiting for eruption, waiting for creation, awaiting explanation of the

mysteries

Waiting on the promise of a life so far away

Waiting for a woman to come and knock upon your door

And you wonder what you want her there for

So now have another glass of wine, another cigarette

For your lips they don’t feel pleasure anymore

Could you recognize an honest case, now could you separate

So many lives that you have graced and whispered before

Hungry for connection, or was it just replacement

Falsifying flesh to fit a role that needs to play

Are you lying to reflections

Are the strangers that you find sleeping next to you just shadows of your own

self indulgent mind

And now you hear her footsteps falling just in time

Well it’s the nighttime and I’m lonely

Well of course you are, she said

Don’t you think it’s time to introduce yourself

To your hands, they are your hands, your words, they are your words

Expecting to be born is just another sad song

Waiting for an emotion, awaiting reproduction, awaiting conversations with your

enemies

Waiting for a time I hope is not so far away

Waiting for the moment you don’t sing along

When you don’t sing along

We’ll go back and tell the children

Do not be afraid, explain to them

This skin is just a mask I wear for now, so I can recognize my voice

It is so heavy, but it suits me so that if I should remove it, what then would

replace it?
