I am the spirit of the old ones

A voice that bellows with peerless vigour

I am the fire of the past

Of life that’s slipping from my grasp

I crawl to the roots of timeless wisdom

To lay enveloped in the earth

To hear the farthest whispers

The fading heartbeat of the world

To the meadow and the trees

Finding companionship in fallen leaves

I wander there now endlessly

From set to sunrise, the sky becomes a doorway

To the spinning cosmos, I will step between the stars

Of waking land and sleep

I find myself now in between

O, twilight glade

Fading rays of summer’s day

I wander here again

Only in my dreams

The scent of sunlight

Carried through the sleeping boughs

Bittersweet memory

I wake before a silent house

In memory of silent May

I wander in a dream

I walk the river path

Take flight upon the raven’s wings

Now boundless soul will dance in

Heaven that dwells within
