we share a common passion

we share a need for light

we share a lack of fashion

we share a long lost fight

we call a horse a donkey we call a door a gate

we call a stop an entry we call a can a plate

we crave for something smaller we crop a landscape wide

we like a distant caller we love the lowest tide

we call a fume direction we call a toll a rate

we love the imperfection of this no borders state

the beauty of the dirt a symphony unheard

a cigarette lit is arson the guardia’s on it’s way

a dessert needs a parsons a perished tree a cray

a lense unfocused’s a lense a string untuned’s a string

a wish unspoken’s a dream a phrase unwritten tense

the goat that’s drifting’s not lost

the mud knows where to float

the shepherds cain ain’t curvy

it’s straighter than the coast

these hills ain’t getting higher

it’s just the planes that drop

these clouds ain’t getting darker

it’s just our shutter’s shot

it’s not we’re out of reach here

we just stopped to respond

a hole is something you dig

but we descend up high

and if a freak’s a fired clown like any bridge’s a spy

ambition’s just an ambulance

that knows his way around town

the thunder’s just a bass line the lightning’s just a truck

the rabbit’s just a rabbi who lost his way to luck
